Community Connections: Wylie East Fork Rotary Club

Get involved! The Rotary Club of Wylie East Fork meets every Thursday at the Landon Winery Event Center in Wylie.

The club is made up of individuals who serve the community by leading volunteer initiatives and supporting local causes. Most recently, its members hosted their first-ever Peace Summit.

Denise Holguin, Community Relations and Networking Coordinator for Home Run Pest & Termite Control and Abracadabra Lawn Pest & Weed Control, was invited to speak to the group. She shared her tips on networking, building genuine relationships and simply becoming comfortable in your own skin.

Of course, Denise brought her usual humorous props—including a poster from the June Bug Flight Academy, Sally Silverfish from Home & Pest Television and even a simple rubber band.

Thank you to Ofilia Barrera, Director of the Smith Public Library and the Rotary Club’s Learning Facilitator, for the invitation. Thank you as well to Bryan Brokaw, President of the Rotary Club, and to all the members for their warm welcome.

A special thank-you goes to Janet Grimes of Top Down General Contracting, Trey Bywaters of Bywaters Media and Brandon Hennigan of Maldonado Nursery & Landscaping—proud members of Denise’s Fan Club!—for making the trek to support her.

Home Run Pest & Termite Control and Abracadabra Lawn Pest & Weed Control are proud of Denise’s efforts to motivate, encourage and help others.

It was a fitting match: a speaker encouraging people to build genuine connections and a Rotary Club whose members put those connections to work serving the community.
